Establishment of Common facility Cente :

As on date, most of the bamboo artisans are using the traditional tools for making bamboo products. This not only consumes more time but even the quality is also compromised resulting in less value for their products. As per an estimate, about 50% of the traditional artisan’s time is spent on processing. Hence, it is proposed to have common facility centers in the identified clusters where in primary bamboo processing machines for jobs like cross-cut, external knot remover, radial splitter, slicer, slivering, stick making and stick sizing etc. would be installed; it will reduce the processing time. The machines to be installed would depend upon the bamboo products being made in the particular cluster. This centre will be operated either by the Bamboo artisans groups, SHGs, NGOs, DBDA or the field units of Forest Department.
